Local florist wins nationwide Plusnet competition to co-sponsor Jordan King’s GP2 car

A Devon florist was celebrating yesterday after winning a nationwide competition to have its business logo appear on British racing star Jordan King’s GP2 racing car.

Simply Flowers in Bovey Tracey will see its logo emblazoned on the front of British driver Jordan King’s car, a place normally reserved for the world’s biggest brands, during the final two races of this year’s GP2 Series, taking place in Bahrain next week and the United Arab Emirates from 27-29th November.

Jordan King made a visit to the florist yesterday, where he congratulated Simply Flowers owner Kate Bainbridge on her win. The award-winning florist also unveiled a special flower arrangement of Jordan’s car made from over 100 chrysanthemums.

Kate, founder of Simply Flowers, expressed her excitement about the opportunity: “I was so happy when I found out that my business had won Plusnet’s competition. We’re a small shop in a small town in Devon, so to think that our logo will be appearing alongside some global brands, on some of the world’s most glamorous race tracks, is very exciting!”

Jordan King said: “Thanks to Plusnet, I’m thrilled to be able to give Simply Flowers the opportunity to co-sponsor my car during my last GP2 races of 2015. Like many small business owners, I know the incredible amount of hard work that goes into making a name for yourself and reaching the top of your game. It’s great to be able to give back to the small companies like Simply Flowers who do us proud.”

Thanks to broadband and telephone provider Plusnet, the local florist will also receive a year’s free business fibre broadband and line rental from Plusnet, plus GP2 merchandise.

Earlier this year, Plusnet announced a multi-year sponsorship deal with the GP2 and Manor F1 Development Driver. King, who served his apprenticeship in National, European and World Championship Karting, won the prestigious British Formula 3 Championship in 2013 before making his GP2 debut this year.

“We love supporting up-and-coming talent, both as the champion of small business and as an employer”, said Andy Baker, Plusnet CEO. “Jordan’s an exceptional talent and we wanted to give a small business owner the opportunity to put their company in the fast lane with him. We are delighted to offer this co-sponsorship to Simply Flowers in Devon, giving them the recognition they deserve. Smaller companies are the backbone of our economy and we think it’s important to give something back.”
